Missions
Highland supports a number of different mission
activities to reach the lost in Grove City and in the Columbus area. This
support is provided through an ever-growing number of strategic partnerships
within and outside of the Southern Baptist denomination. Through these
partnerships, the body of Christ at Highland is aligned to help meet both
physical and spiritual needs of people in our community

Highland is part of the Metro
Columbus Baptist Association which is a cooperative of Southern Baptist Churches

The Stowe Baptist
Center serves the impoverished and under-privileged in Central Ohio to meet
spiritual, educational, and physical needs. Michael and Janet Brooks are
the missionaries that are developing the Stowe mission. Highland folks
serve food at a soup kitchen on the first Tuesday of the month, assist with the
Women’s Christian Job Corp, tutor children and youth, and with numerous other

A ministry of the Lutheran
Social Services, Faith Mission serves the homeless community by offering a
secure, Christian-based environment for homeless men and women on an emergency
walk-in basis. Highland supports Faith Mission by supporting food drives,

Inner-City Ministry
The Inner-City Ministry is an outreach ministry
of the Church of Christ in Christian Union and serves the homeless on the west
side of Columbus by providing food, clothing, and blankets to the
impoverished. Highland supports Inner-City Ministry through volunteers
to perform service projects, meals and other activities.

Grove
City Food Pantry
Description:
The Highland Community Concerns Team organizes a church wide food collection in
the month of March to support community needs through the Grove City Food
Pantry.

Highland
supports the collection and distribution of food to the food pantries throughout
Central Ohio by volunteering at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. For more

Time
of my Life Book
Time of my Life is a
structured series of questions that can be answered by senior adults and others
to provide a record of many of the events in their lives that are of interest to
their family. This unique evangelism tool allows Highland to work with
seniors in the church and elsewhere to build relationships around Christ and to
develop opportunities to share the Gospel.

Camp Echoing Hills
Echoing Hills Village in
Coshocton Ohio assists people with special needs achieve their highest potential
and to know and experience Jesus Christ. Highland is developing a
partnership with Echoing Hills to provide assistance for Respite Weekends and

Girls for Missions Camp
Description: Highland
supports the 2008 Girls for Missions Camp at Seneca Lake July 29 through
August 3, 2008 and the opportunity for children to learn about missions and
being a missionary.
Activities:
There are opportunities for counselors at the camp and for preparing activity
bags that are being provided by the church. Please contact Josie Semo

2008
Description:
World Changers is a mission activity for youth groups to serve with other youth
in performing housing improvements in impoverished areas. World Changers
will be in Columbus June 15 -21, 2008. Highland will be hosting a group of
the youth and furnishing meals and other miscellaneous items. For more

National Missions

Heaven Sent Ministries
Description: Heaven Sent
Ministries in Princeton, W.V provides food to impoverished areas, builds
churches, and sends both short and long-term mission teams. Mission
trips are being planned for Brazil, Dominican Republic, England, Germany, and
Portugal. Highland volunteers help package food that is being sent into
areas like Guatemala, India, Nicaragua, Sudan, and Uganda. For more

Camp Lewis is a
55 acre camp in Gauge Kentucky that provides a low cost Christian camping
experience for children and youth. Highland is involved in the preparation

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering
The Lottie Moon Christmas offering is used
exclusively for funding approximately 5200 missionaries that are trying to
reach an estimated 1.6 million people worldwide that have little or no access
to the Gospel. Highland contributed over $10,300 for 2007. For

Serbia
Matt and Cyndi Maxson are
former members of Highland and have been called into the missions field in
Serbia. Their Commissioning Service was on April 2, 2008 and they will

David Stewart and Dale Neitman participated in a
mission trip to Peru last summer to help IMB missionaries. Christina
Thomas is going to Peru in July with a group of teenagers from James Dobson’s
Focus on the Family Ministries to participate in several children’s evangelism

Mexico
Andrew Murfin and the Two
to the Wall band participated in a mission trip in 2007 and will participate
in a mission trip in August 2008 to provide worship music for teenagers in
Mexico.
